Ocoee

Established in 1925, Ocoee is located in Orange County, Florida and is a short distance from metropolitan Orlando and Disney World. Originally a small agricultural settlement supported by citrus and vegetable farming, Ocoee is now a growing suburb.

This Central Florida city is bordered by Apopka to the North, Windermere and Gotha to the South, Hiawassee to the East, and Winter Garden to the West. The main roadways in Ocoee include Hwy 50, which runs East-West through its Southern section, and The 429 Expressway, which runs North and South along its Western Edge. Clarcona-Ocoee Road, A.D. Mims, and Silver Star Road are all commonly used roads through this popular community. The Florida Turnpike also passes through Ocoee’s Southern edge and the 408 Expressway is just outside the city.

When it comes to housing, Ocoee has tons of different community developments, including assisted living homes. One of the main housing developments is Arden Park, a beautiful community that is located right off of the popular West Orange Trail. Arden Park was designed with the environment in mind, saving large mature trees and relocating them during construction.

Furthermore, Ocoee has a suburban feel with many luxury apartments and high end communities available, like Casa Mirella and the Village of Wesmere. Ocoee is also the home of several senior living and assisted living communities, including an assisted living facility specifically designated for NFL retirees!

This beautiful city hosts many public and private schools, including 7 public elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. Ocoee also has several local colleges close by including the University of Central Florida (UCF), Devry University and Valencia Community College.

Aside from its popular urban atmosphere, Ocoee is actually considered a great escape from the larger cities of Central Florida. In fact, Ocoee has tons of parks to explore that are perfect for boating, fishing, picnics and hiking. For instance, Starke Lake, named after Ocoee’s founder, Dr. J.D. Starke, is one of the fabulous five lakes in Orlando and is great for fishing, especially largemouth bass. Another fun outdoor activity is the Ocoee Family Aquatic Center, which has a zero-depth entry pool with several water play features. The aquatic center offers private and group swimming lessons as well as pool party rentals.

For more must-see destinations in Ocoee, visit the Ocoee Lakeshore center – the premier event destination with beautiful lake views and tons of amenities for your conference or wedding. Or check out the Withers-Maguire House, an Ocoee historic site that is another popular event location perfect for weddings, corporate functions, and other special events.

Finally, stroll down to one of the most major centers of commercial activity in Ocoee, located at the four corners of State Road 50 and Maguire Road. This intersection has shopping centers, motels, restaurants, and a theater. You can also visit the West Oaks mall, an indoor mall that has a wide range of stores, dining, and entertainment to enjoy.
